SCHILLING, RICH IMPORTER,
HELD INCOMPETENT
ON SON'S DEMAND

On petition of his son, Rudolph, August Schilling, millionaire tea and coffee importer, was held incompetent by Superior Judge Buck of San Mateo county yesterday and Rudolph was appointed guardian, under bond of $150,000.

The petition set forth that the elder Schilling, who resided in Woodside, possesses an estate appraised at $3,250,000, yielding an annual income of $140,000, and that "because of old age, disease, weakness of mind and physical inability" it was feared he might be imposed on by "artful and designing persons."

The estate consists largely of stock in the Schilling Estate Company and the San Francisco ???? Company.

All securities in the estate were ordered by Judge Buck to be impounded, subject to the court’s order.

Rudolph Schilling testified briefly in support of his petition. Other members of the family were in court but did not testify.
